Start by following along with the activities on the Intro and Cookies cards. You'll reminisce about cookies from the past, then each create a paint-by-stickers cookie.

After you've made the paint-by-stickers cookies, continue to the Thief and Suspects cards. Once you've filled in four suspects, proceed to the next tip.

The Investigation card says to use the Cookie Thief Detector to inspect each suspect. How might you do this?

Line up the main circle on the Cookie Thief Detector with a suspect's mug shot. What do you notice?

Each of the 4 holes on the bottom of the detector should reveal up to one object from the suspect's pockets. What might you do with this information?

Have you seen objects like these before?

Take another look at the ransom note on the back of "Card 3: Thief!"

How might a given object relate to the ransom note?

Each object makes up a different letter in the ransom note. What might you do with this information?

Take the letter corresponding to each object that the detector reveals. String them together and see what you notice.

Suspect 1:

Suspect 2:

Suspect 4:

• S (silver chain)

Putting those letters together, you get the message INSPECT COOKIES.

What might the clue INSPECT COOKIES mean?

The description from "Card #5: Investigation" says:

"Guarding your two remaining cookies, you summon the suspects... Use the Cookie Thief Detector to inspect each suspect. Place it over their mug shot. If they’re guilty, you’ll catch them red-handed."

Try using the Cookie Thief Detector on a paint-by-stickers cookie you made.
