Puzzle Tips
Tip 1
Tip 1
To solve this puzzle, you should be looking at the two pages in the booklet with a green grassy background. The pages show a few different groupings of white squares.
Tip 2
Tip 2
The “Getting Started” page describes two smooth, squat boulders. The images of the hill show squares with dotted markings. What might these both be referring to?
Tip 3
Tip 3
You’ll need the dice to solve this puzzle. How might you use the markings on the page inform how you’d use the dice?
Tip 4
Tip 4
Try placing a die on the square in the top left corner, with the number 1 facing up. What might you do next?
Tip 5
Tip 5
Roll the die to the right so that it sits on top of the second square. There’s a two shown on that square. What might that mean?
Tip 6
Tip 6
Figure out how to orient the die in the first square, so that the face-up side always matches numbers shown in subsequent squares.
Keep in mind that, once you place a die in the white start square, you can’t pick it up, slide, or drag it. You can only roll it from one edge to another.
Continue rolling the die until you reach the question mark. What might that mean?
Tip 7
Tip 7
Keep track of what number appears face up in the question mark square. You’ll need it later.
Tip 8
Tip 8
For the second grouping of squares (on the bottom of the left-hand page), repeat this same pattern. Start with the number 2 face up and figure out how to roll the die so that the number 5 appears face up a few squares later.
Tip 9
Tip 9
Now onto the third grouping of die (on top of the right-hand page). In this case, not every placement of the die is shown. What might that mean?
Tip 10
Tip 10
You’ll need to figure out how to get the die from each spot to the next.
Tip 11
Tip 11
Start with the number 3 face-up and the number 2 on the right.
Rolling the die to the left, then down doesn’t work (it results in a 6 face-up).
Rolling the die down, then left works (it results in a 2 face-up).
Tip 12
Tip 12
Continue rolling the die in this pattern (down, then left), until you reach the question mark square.
Tip 13
Tip 13
The last sequence is on the bottom of the right-hand page. It starts with a 4, then goes to a 6. Then there are roses before the next square, which has another 6. How might you go from 6 to 6, without crushing the roses?
Tip 14
Tip 14
From the first 6, try rolling the die up or down…
Tip 15
Tip 15
To get from the first 6 to the next 6, roll the die up (or down), then go left twice, then go down (or up). Finish the sequence until you reach the question mark.
Tip 16
Tip 16
At this point, you should have 4 numbers. How might you use those numbers?
Tip 17
Tip 17
Dial the numbers into the combination lock. Put them in order (from 1 to 4) of the start die for each sequence.
Tip 18
Tip 18
You should have gotten the following numbers for each question mark: 6, 5, 1, 2. Dial 6-5-1-2 into the combination lock.
